I actually recently went through a pretty big mindset shift with Afroshoujo. For the past five years I have been trying to make this my career: pay my bills and do it full time in the fun times and when it feels like work too. But I realized after my first burnout last winter and finishing school this semester, that I prefer to keep Afroshoujo as my vocation aka my calling!

Making music started as a journal and I want to give my inner child permission to enjoy that again without the mental pressure of profit and grind culture. I want to create how and when I want to, and I want to avoid chasing viral moments and filtering mean comments and taking loans.

This doesn’t really mean anything different as far as sharing my art with you, but from now on I’m going to be putting more energy into protecting my happiness and fun while I put more focus into my opera career.

That being said I’m extremely grateful for those of you who listen, comment, follow donate, purchase, and exchange your precious energy with me in any way! You make the experience of creativity a complete process and I love you for that!
